Lesa's Animal Talk: Horses like the paint on cars: "Even if you have spent your entire life working with animals, there are some things you have to learn the hard way. Last night Pete and I h..."
Last week I was listening to the PBS radio show "Car Talk" a lady had left her car parked next to a group of horses with the driver window open. One of the horse apparently stuck it's head in and ate her steering wheel [nibbled all the plastic off leaving a metal rim]. Her question was can she replace it herself?

Prototype demonstration H2 production facility
I have been a nuclear project engineer for 25 years. I work for Dominion, one of the largest energy companies in the US (nuclear, gas, coal energy production). Dominion is about to build the first new nuclear plant since the 70's in Virginia.
Today the CNO of Dominion (Tom Farrell) came and at spoke at the plant where I work (Millstone). After his presentation he opened the floor to questions.
I said that for many years people have been talking about using nuclear plants to produce H2. This is because at night energy demand drops off but nuclear plants cannot be turned on/off quickly like other plants and so must run all night even when there is almost no demand.
I said that Dominion is well positioned to build the first large scale H2 production facility because 1) right now it could be integrated with the design of the new nuclear plant and 2) Dominion has tremendous experience with gas operations and 3) Dominion operates a large fleet of vehicles that could be used as a proving ground for H2 technology.
I then asked Farrell if an automaker were to approach you with a plan to do all this, would you be open to the idea and he said "yes".
I view this as a unique, valuable, environmentally significant opportunity for some H2 car company to 1) establish the viability of the technology and 2) grab a leading position in what is a developing and potentially major market.
To the long list of H2 car makers on your blog, I would suggest they come up with a plan to offer a small fleet of H2 vehicles to Farrell in exchange for his agreement to build H2 production and distribution facilities in Va for what would be the Dominion H2 demonstration prototype "clean fleet".
